Abstract

The ground state Q value of the reaction Ni58(p, π)Zn59 has been measured with Ep=190 MeV. The measured Q value was -144.735(40) MeV and the cross section at 30 deg was found to be 0.080(20) nb/sr. Also measured was the low-lying level structure of Zn59 and an upper limit on the reaction cross section for Ca40(p, π) going to the ground state of Ti41. The measured mass of Zn59 was used to study Coulomb energy systematics.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ni58(p, π)Zn59, Ca40(p, π)Ti41, Ep=190 MeV; measured Zn59 mass, low-lying energy levels; calculated ft values, σ. Studied Coulomb energy systematics.
