Abstract

Shell-model calculations for O18 and Mg26 yield predictions of strong state dependence of the isovector component of nuclear transition strengths, with results for O18 being consistent with recent measurements of ππ+ inelastic scattering ratios.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE O18, Mg26; calculated neutron and proton components of inelastic scattering excitations; estimates of ππ+ cross section ratios; shell model.
