Abstract

The three-neutron transfer reaction (C12,C9) has been measured on C13 and C12 targets at 230.7MeV incident energy. The level scheme of C16, which was known previously up to 6.11MeV excitation energy, has been extended up to 17.4MeV by 14 new states. The structure of these states in terms of particle-hole configurations and possible spin assignments are discussed. In C15 the spins of the states at 6.84MeV and 7.39MeV could be uniquely assigned as 92 and 72, respectively.
