Simple formula for $E\left(4_1^{+}\right)-E\left(2_1^{+}\right)$ correlations and the magnification of structural anomalies

A recently proposed correlation of quasiground band energies in collective nuclei is shown to provide a highly sensitive indicator of different classes of nuclei and to lead to an empirical analytic formula for these energies.
