Abstract

Fe57 Mössbauer spectra of EuNiO3 and doped with 1at.% Fe57 recorded in the temperature range 300KT480K reveal an asymmetric shape below the insulator-metal transition occurring at TIM=460K. The spectra are becoming more symmetric approaching TIM and are symmetric above TIM. Analysis of the spectra gives evidence that the observed asymmetry below TIM is due to a charge disproportionation taking place at the Fe57 (Ni) site in the monoclinic phase of EuNiO3.
