Abstract

Starting from Kubo’s linear response theory the conductivity for a quantum well system of many electrons interacting with phonons and confined in a square well potential is formulated using a projection operator technique. We present explicit results for the line-shape function of the optical absorption spectrum within the weak coupling approximation.
