Abstract

We have investigated quantum wires with a periodic modulation along the wire direction. We have tailored the widths of the quantum wires with respect to the modulation period, and we observe in a magnetic field an intrinsic coupling and anticrossing behavior between the Kohn’s mode and the one-dimensional plasmon, i.e., between, respectively, the transverse and the longitudinal dynamic excitation along the wire direction.
