Abstract

We derive an expression for the effective dielectric function of a multicomponent mixture with small heterogeneities. The result is generalized to the case of a continuous medium with fluctuating dielectric function. Besides, we obtain an original expression for the effective dielectric function of a dilute suspension of spherical beads. Our result differs from the previously known one and appears to be physically more correct at higher bead volume fractions.
