Abstract

We report on investigations of the resonant transmission effect of electrons induced by the corrugation of the conducting channel in a gated quantum-wire structure. The corrugation consisted of a periodic indentation of the side wall by which electron waves are scattered backward in the channel. The low-temperature conductance shows a number of peaks in the gate-voltage range where the electron transport is one dimensional. We attribute the resonances to the multiple reflection effect that is interpreted by a simple interference condition.
