Abstract
We demonstrate the possibility of obtaining two-dimensional confinement in semiconductor heterostructures through direct control of the growth kinetics. The confinement is characterized through the exciton behavior in the presence of a magnetic field applied following the symmetry of the structure. The comparison between the magneto-optical properties of the quantum-well and quantum-wire structures present in the same sample gives direct evidence of the dimensionality of the states.
