Abstract
Repulsive scattering centers in quantum dots have profound effects on the energy spectrum of a quantum dot in a magnetic field. The symmetry-breaking electron-impurity potentials cause lifting of the degeneracy, level repulsion, etc. in the energy spectrum and angular momentum selection rules are found that govern those anticrossings of the energy levels. We also study the optical absorption spectra in the presence of single or multiple scatterers in a parabolic dot. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
