Abstract
The density of states of a two-dimensional electron system with spin in a perpendicular magnetic field and confined within a parabolic quantum well is shown to lead to paramagnetic and heat-capacity oscillations that directly reflect the quantum-well parameters. Numerical estimates based on achievable electron areal densities and magnetic fields indicate that these effects may be observable.
