Abstract

This paper presents a solution to the complete Hartree-Fock equation for n-type semiconductor heterojunction quantum wells which includes the exchange term of the Coulomb interaction. It presents calculations that show the contributions of the direct and exchange terms to the linear absorption. It demonstrates that including the exchange term can improve theoretical predictions of experimentally measured intersubband absorption peaks.
