Abstract

We have stuied the tunneling processes between a multiple-quantum-wire system and a two-dimensional electron gas. In magnetic fields applied perpendicular to the sample, transitions between Landau levels and quantum-wire states are observed. Two different sets of transitions are identified in the tunneling characteristics, which prove the predicted selection rules.
