Abstract

The equations for the density-effect correction δ(X) for the ionization loss as given in a previous paper have been extended to the case where δ(X0)δ0>0. Here X0 is the lower limit of the range X0<X<X1, where a particularly simple expression for δ(X) applies; X=log10(pm0c), where p is the momentum and m0 is the mass of the incident particle. The case δ0>0 applies directly to the calculation of δ(X) for conductors (metals).
