Wigner-Kirkwood expansion for cross sections

Abstract

An expansion in powers of ħ2 is developed for the integral over all angles of an arbitrary smooth function times the cross section for a particle scattering from a time-independent potential. An explicit expression is given for the leading quantum correction, which is illustrated with the example of scattering in two dimensions from a 1/r2 potential.
